Description

Cottonwood (English for Alamo), a full bar with superior Texas pub fare and occasional live music, is a collaboration of Sara and Rob Cromie, Charles Bishop, chef Daniel Ajtai (pron. AY-tie) and developer Harres Exezidis. The food menu offers tasty comfort food such as stuffed Texas quail, jerk chicken wings, BBQ oysters, IPA mussels, pork-belly corndogs and chicken pot pie, all made with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients.
The bar features both unique and well-known craft cocktails and only the finest beer available, including a large number from local/Texas brewers, including 42 beers on tap with two cask-conditioned taps.
No strangers to the world of well-run bars and restaurants, the Cromies own and manage the very popular Raven Grill as well as Picnic on Bissonnet and co-own Liberty Station bar with Bishop and Exezidis on lower Washington.
Ajtai is an adventurous and celebrated veteran chef with nationwide notches in his meat cleaver with stints at The Raven Grill, Del Frisco's, Aries and Bank at the Hotel Icon in Houston, Uchi in Austin and Jean-Georges in New York City.

The property itself was thoroughly and artfully renovated in early 2012 making use of lots of natural light aided by custom-designed windows and large, sliding garage doors that open out onto a sizeable covered patio with picnic tables, a deck for live music, an outside bar, deck games and 55” LCDs. As is the case with Liberty Station and the Raven Grill, the target audience is anyone who wants to relax and have a good time, whether they're in shorts and flip flops, surgical scrubs, office attire or a uniform. Cottonwood regularly hosts special events such as crawfish boils, movie nights, game tournaments and paired dinners.

According to Bishop, the neighborhood is the priority and already they've worked to discover and participate in area projects that are valued by neighbors, their kids and all four-footed friends.
